As we approach 2016, we’re reminded of the opportunity for new beginnings — the opportunity to learn from the past and progress toward a bright and beautiful future. And while it’s true that we can do that at any time, moving to a new year is an event that prompts us to think about what we want to accomplish for our lives. We’ve thought about it, and continue to come back to the same life-position — “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” Whatever 2016 brings; whatever it takes; whatever comes our way; that truth remains — we belong to Jesus, and we will strive to make every decision in the light of that truth!
2016 should prove interesting! The falling energy prices gave Allen the opportunity to retire at the beginning of 2015, and the same energy slump is giving Karen the opportunity to retire in 2016. As we move to this new phase of our lives (a.k.a. ‘one foot in heaven’), we’re looking at our ranch strategy and our goals to determine our long range plans (if anything CAN be long range at our ages!). As we do so, we are overwhelmed by the support and friendship that so many of you have provided to us, and would ask those of you who are believers in Christ to pray for us when we come into your thoughts this year.
2015 was a wonderful year. 2016, although not known at present, will doubtless be yet another year of a gracious God showing us much more grace and provision than we deserve. It’s not about us! Pray that our hearts and attitudes will be pleasing to Him — today and always!
May God bless all of you as we begin this blessed new year!
